Disney just dropped some news concerning their upcoming film slate including some interesting news for Star Wars fans!

Announcing an adjusted release schedule for the next few years, Disney has confirmed an as-yet untitled trio of Star Wars films will be released every other year starting in December 2022. We don’t know if these are the Star Wars films reportedly being developed by Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, or the apparently separate stories from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss

It also seems that Disney has finally cemented Christmas as the place for Star Wars:

  • Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker: 20 December 2019
  • Star Wars movie 1: 16 December 2022
  • Star Wars movie 2: 20 December 2024
  • Star Wars movie 3: 18 December 2026

Hopefully we will have some information soon regarding which trilogy from which director will hit theaters in 2022. Maybe San Diego Comic-Con 2019 might be a good place for some of that information to drop? We will see…

Stay tuned for more information as it breaks…
