If you have been waiting on news of Rian Johnson’s new Star Wars trilogy, then wait no more! While attending the Empire Awards, director Rian Johnson and producer Ram Bergman revealed that story work has indeed begun on the new trilogy. The duo reiterated that it is still in the very early stages of being written though.

[Rian] Johnson’s long-time producing partner Ram Bergman gave an update on the status of the new films. According to Bergman, work has already begun. Bergman said: “We’ve started. Slowly, slowly, but we’ve started. Hopefully soon we’re going to get busier.

Later on the same red carpet, Johnson himself confirmed that work is underway on the trilogy. Johnson indicated however that the process is in its very early stages. Saying he’s excited to dive in on the project, Johnson admitted that he still has to “figure out what it’s going to be.”

As you can tell, it isn’t much, but still nice to know that work is commencing on the upcoming trilogy of new films. As always, leave your thoughts in comment section below!

The Last Jedi DVD & Blu-ray Disc Sales Top the Charts in the US

Could it be that all of the blowback for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, be coming from a very vocal minority? According to the latest DVD and Blu-ray sales, it seems to be true. The second ranked movie on the list, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, sold only 29% of the totals for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Granted this is was the first week of release, but it seems the “Force” is still strong with Star Wars.

The eighth numbered installment of the “Star Wars” saga and the ninth live-action film in the franchise took in $620 million at the domestic box office and $1.33 billion worldwide — making it the top earner released in 2017. The Rian Johnson-directed film easily took the No. 1 spot on both the NPD VideoScan overall disc sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart.
