Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Hop in the way-back-machine for a quick Force-flashback for a second. If you recall back in early 2015, there were rumors that J.J. Abrams was going to film a scene that flashed back to the Luke and Vader fight scene in Cloud City from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. According to various websites, Robert Boulter was cast as a young Luke Skywalker for the scene. Even Hasbro thought the scene was going to be in the movie, and released a Bespin Luke Skywalker and a Darth Vader figure in their initial Star Wars: The Force Awakens action figure release.

Flash forward to today, and Jason Ward has released a photo on his Twitter account, featuring Robert Boulter as Luke Skywalker. This photo seemingly confirms that the scene was at the very least, in a draft of the film, and had gone as far as costume fittings and make-up tests. If I were a betting man, I would say that this was probably filmed as well (this would have appeared during Rey’s vision after touching Luke’s lightsaber in Maz’s castle).

I guess we will never know, but hopefully we will get a J.W. Rinzler type book about Star Wars: The Force Awakens one day, which might give us a look into the history of the film.

I guess though, we might not ever know the whole truth. Until that truth comes to light, at least we have this bit of photographic evidence of Robert as Luke Skywalker. Check out the image and the tweet below.
