During yesterday’s Disney Quarter 1 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger gave a rundown of the company’s upcoming releases through 2026. Among there were several Marvel films, Pixar films, and of course a Star Wars film at the end…
“Looking to our 2025 theatrical slate, we’re excited to bring audiences Captain America: Brave New World and Fantastic Four for Marvel, Pixar has Zootopia 2, and then there’s Avatar 3. And we’re already looking forward to 2026 and beyond with Frozen 3, the first Toy Story movie since 2019, and a new Star Wars movie that brings The Mandalorian and Grogu to the big screen for the very first time.“
The films goes into production at some point this year, but the release year was sort of left up in the air from the press release that Lucasfilm gave us a few weeks ago. Pedro Pascal currently has his plate full with the Last of Us season 2, and the rumors that the Fantastic Four film will start filming this year. That doesn’t leave much room for filming in 2024.
With that said, who knows how much we will see of his face in the movie anyway. Especially given that his sect of Mandalorians don’t believe in removing their helmets. So it may not even matter for him, especially if it is just voice work he is doing.
While we don’t have an official date yet, you can probably expect this to be the film that Lucasfilm had on its schedule for a May 22, 2026.
