Rogue One Advanced Ticket Sales
Rogue One Regal Cinemas Exclusive Ticket

If you were worried that Rogue One might flounder at the box office, leading Disney and Lucasfilm to rethink their ideas for standalone Star Wars films, then you might want to think again.  It seems that Rogue One Advanced Ticket Sales are doing big business at places like Fandango and MovieTickets.com.  In terms of sales, the numbers coming in so far put Rogue One right behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens for record setting sales.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is already drumming up Death Star-sized business one day after going on sale.

MovieTickets.com says that the film led the site to the biggest presales day of 2016, and on the site, presales for the first Star Wars standalone sold 90 percent of blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens did on its first day.

Fandago also reported Monday was it’s highest presales day of the year, and its second highest presales day ever, behind Force Awakens.

This just goes to prove the power of the Star Wars brand.  Now whether the film will be any good or not…  We will leave that one alone until we get a chance to see it.

About Rogue One:

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
