UPDATE – io9 contacted Lucasfilm to confirm the information below, and was told that the quote was a tad bit mistranslated. It seems that Kennedy said the moving is something she would like to see at some point in the future.
Solo: A Star Wars Story doesn’t premiere for another week in the US, but it seems plans are already in the works for the next spin-off film in the Star Wars franchise. While talking with Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the studio’s plans for a Lando Calrissian movie.
“We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca but Lando will be next.”
With the reviews coming in and the acclaim being given to Donald Glover for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian, this seems like a no-brainer for Lucasfilm. As always leave your thoughts in the appropriate places!
