In a new YouTube interview with Kristian Harloff, Freddie Prinze Jr. revealed that he only came back to do cameos for Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker because he was asked to as a favor, not because he wanted to — he’s “done” playing the character going forward.

Prinze Jr. said he is happy with where the character’s arc ended and doesn’t want to dilute it by continuing on in any way, shape, or form.

On the Star Wars: The Bad Batch cameo he said, “I was asked to, yeah. I didn’t necessarily want to. I feel like every time you hear Kanan’s voice since Rebels ended, it really kind of dilutes his impact.”

Concerning his one line in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, speaking to Rey through the Force, he reiterated, “Yeah, I didn’t want to do that either. I was asked as a favor and I feel like all my — all their favors are used up now.”

Finally, he was asked about any involvement in the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series and he said, “No Ahsoka, I’m done with Kanan. I’m too old for that stuff.”
