Audiobook Original The High Republic: Tempest Breaker Coming in December!

Star Wars: The High Republic: Tempest Breaker, a new audiobook original written by Cavan Scott. Coming December 3 from Random House Audio (with physical and eBook editions of the script following in spring 2025), the tale finds the Jedi joining forces with marauder Lourna Dee of the Nihil. The audiobook original will feature a full cast in style of classic audio dramas, similar to past releases The Battle of JedhaDoctor Aphra, and Scott’s own Dooku: Jedi Lost and Tempest Runner, the latter also starring Lourna. You can get a first look at the cover below.

Dee, a Twi’lek descendant of Ryloth nobility, left her family behind to join the Nihil, rising to the rank of Tempest Runner and becoming one of Nihil leader Marchion Ro’s top lieutenants. Violent and unpredictable, Dee has been a thorn in the side of the Jedi, even attempting to assassinate the Chancellor; but recently, Dee and the Jedi have come to something of an understanding, especially as Lourna’s relationship with Ro has soured. It all leads to Tempest Breaker!

StarWars.com has even more on this including an interview with author Cavan Scott, on their website!

First Look at the Cover for Manga Star Wars Book ‘The Edge of Balance’

Star Wars: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, Vol. 3 Cover

This summer, Daniel José Older and Shima Shinya will join forces for the third installment of the Star Wars: The High Republic manga series by VIZ, The Edge of Balance, Vol. 3. With art by Mizuki Sakakibara, the illustrated story is part of Phase III of Star Wars: The High Republic, reuniting fans with Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi who remains in defiance on Banchii, one year after the fall of Starlight Beacon.

The cover art featuring Jedi Master Arkoff the Wookiee proudly standing guard with green lightsaber ignited was revealed today on StarWars.com. According to artist Sakakibara, “I envisioned the covers of Edge of Balance to represent the four seasons. Volume 1 (Lily) was autumn, Volume 2 (Keerin) was summer, so this time it will be Arkoff in the winter. The Jedi are facing a tough time, but after winter comes spring.”

Co-writers Shima Shinya and Daniel José Older are equally excited for Arkoff’s cover debut. “I’m so excited for people to see this stunning cover, which perfectly captures the thrill and power of the story we’ve been working so hard on,” Older says.

The official site also has some amazing concept art for the book on display as well. If you are into Manga Star Wars, then I highly recommend going over there to check it out.

The full description for the book can be read below:

The destruction of Starlight Beacon also destroys the peace once protected by the great Jedi of the High Republic Era. Despite the encroaching Stormwall, Lily stands her ground and reestablishes Banchii’s Jedi Temple. Banchii is not to be abandoned and its long-held secrets begin to unfurl as Jedi Master Arkoff returns to connect the pieces to a mystery long buried.

Star Wars: The High Republic: Convergence Synopsis:

The next adventure in the High Republic begins expanding the new era of Star Wars, with a story set generations before Light of the Jedi.

It is an age of exploration. Jedi travel the galaxy, expanding their understanding of the Force and all the worlds and beings connected by it. Meanwhile, the Republic, led by its two chancellors, works to unite worlds in an ever-growing community among near and distant stars.

On the close orbiting planets of Eiram and E’ronoh, the growing pains of a galaxy with limited resources but unlimited ambition are felt keenly. Their hatred for each other has fueled half a decade of escalating conflict and now threatens to consume surrounding systems. The last hope for peace emerges when heirs from the two planets’ royal families plan to marry.

Before lasting peace can be established, an assassination attempt targeting the couple tilts Eiram and E’ronoh back into all-out war. To save both worlds, Jedi Knight Gella Nattai volunteers to uncover the culprit, while Chancellor Kyong appoints her son, Axel Greylark, to represent the Republic’s interests in the investigation.

But Axel’s deep distrust of the Jedi sparks against Gella’s faith in the Force. She’s never met such a puffed-up, privileged party boy, and he’s never met a more self-serious, relentless do-gooder. The more they work to untangle the shadowy web of the investigation, the more complicated the conspiracy appears to be. With accusations flying and potential enemies in every shadow, the pair will have to work together to have any hope of bringing the truth to light and saving both worlds.

Mystery Star Wars Series Starts Pre-Production

Star Wars: The High Republic Art by Phil Noto

We have been hearing some incoming chatter coming across our various Imperial spies around the Outer Rim. Normally we would not disseminate this information to the denizens of the New Republic because we are unsure of the accuracy of the transmissions. However, we want to make sure that all information is on the table, so that you are not caught unaware in the galactic wilds! Remember to take everything below with a nice big helping of salt!

Some fantastic new rumors are coming out about the mystery Star Wars show set for Disney+. As you may remember, we have covered the mystery production titled ‘Grammar Rodeo‘ here before. What we think we know is that this is a show based on the High Republic era of Star Wars, focused on a group of Padawan’s with a “Stranger Things” type feel to the show. Discussing Film who revealed that Jon Favreau was onboard as a producer for the series, and that Spider-Man: No Way Home director, Jon Watts, was in talks to direct episodes of the mystery series.

Rumor site Bespin Bulletin has new info (and they seem to be right on the money with most of the rumors) concerning the production schedule for the show.

The series is just a few short months away from the start of filming, but I’ve been informed and can now exclusively reveal that the show has been in pre-production for a small number of weeks at a studio in Culver City, California where sets are being prepared ahead of the June start. The series is also due to film at Manhattan Beach Studios where The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, all filmed primarily for their respective series, and houses a volume.

Hopefully since pre-production has started, that we will get some sort of confirmation or tease about the upcoming show at Star Wars Celebration in May. Until then, keep your eyes and ears on alert here, for more information as it becomes available.

Is the Rumored ‘High Republic’ Show Animated?

We have been hearing some incoming chatter coming across our various Imperial spies around the Outer Rim. Normally we would not disseminate this information to the denizens of the New Republic because we are unsure of the accuracy of the transmissions. However, we want to make sure that all information is on the table, so that you are not caught unaware in the galactic wilds! Remember to take everything below with a nice big helping of salt!

There have been many rumors floating about the web concerning a mysterious upcoming ‘Tales of the Jedi’ type show for Disney Plus. Putting all the puzzle pieces together, we can deduce that it is going to start filming in June under the working title Grammar Rodeo. Then came confirmation from another source that Grammar Rodeo would be based on the High Republic era of Star Wars. Then a rumor popped up about Jon Watts in talks to direct one or more episodes of a mysterious new Disney+ Star Wars series (rumored to be Grammar Rodeo.).

Finally this bit of rumor mill material popped up from Jordan Maison on Twitter. Jordan is the EIC at Cinelinx and has a few contacts around the industry. He tweeted an image of Icon Creative Studio featuring Monster’s Inc characters and then replied to that same tweet with the High Republic logo.

Could this cryptic tweet mean that he has information that the rumored High Republic show will be an animated outing for Disney Plus? We think we know that Grammar Rodeo is a High Republic show, so could this be one and the same?

Star Wars Celebration 2022 is just around the corner and this may very well be an upcoming announcement during the event. It seems Lucasfilm is keeping their cards close to the vest for now concerning all of their upcoming plans. Star Wars Celebration is intended to be their “San Diego Comic-Con” type of event for the franchise so expect big news to come out of the convention when it hits.

Until then, leave your comments concerning what you think any of this means. Am I grasping at straws? Let me know!

RUMOR – High Republic Show Coming?

Outer Rim News Chatter "Rumor Mill"

We have been hearing some incoming chatter coming across our various Imperial spies around the Outer Rim. Normally we would not disseminate this information to the denizens of the New Republic because we are unsure of the accuracy of the transmissions. However, we want to make sure that all information is on the table, so that you are not caught unaware in the galactic wilds! Remember to talk everything below with a nice big helping of salt!

Last week we shared a report about filming updates for various Star Wars related Disney Plus shows. One of them was a show that will film under the name “Grammar Rodeo”. In that article I speculated that it was most likely a Yoda based show given the production name. Now new information is pointing towards a show based on the High Republic era of Star Wars. This does not mean Yoda will not be involved, because he is still a Jedi Council member at this point in his life. (The High Republic takes place approximately 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.)

The folks over at LRM, have a “source” inside Lucasfilm that has given them a little more information. This information lines up with the previous report of production timeline updates.

There’s a Star Wars series filming around May-December in Manhattan Beach. It’s the High Republic series. Working title is Grammar Radio. (Ok, they got slightly mixed up between rodeo and radio)

LRMOnline

Today was the first time I ever visited this site, but they claim to have a great track record with Star Wars leaks. I will leave it up to you to decide whether or not to believe this one. It also plays into the importance that Lucasfilm is putting on this era of Star Wars.

The information does tend to line up with all the other chatter running around the Internet about this particular mysterious series. What do you think? Is it High Republic related? If it is, are you going to be watching? Sound off in the comment section below!
