We know that Respawn Entertainment is currently working on a brand new real time strategy game based in the Star Wars universe, but something else is brewing as well… Recently GamesRadar editor Josh West posted a question on Twitter asking how to get a sequel to Empire at War. Out of the blue, VGC News owner Andy Robinson, a well respected gaming journalist, posited that a new RTS set in the Star Wars universe could be coming sooner than you think!
Respawn and Bit Reactor have been developing a Star Wars strategy game by ex-Firaxis devs, some of whom have had over two decades of experience in the industry, specifically working with strategy titles. While this new strategy game is sure to include plenty of intense battles, it should also hopefully offer plenty of downtime, where players can plan out their next move, and hopefully manage an entire galaxy’s worth of troops and ships.
This game however is not the game Andy Robinson was referring to. West responded to Robinson’s tweet saying that he had forgotten about the Respawn game. Robinson, responded with, “The one I was thinking of hasn’t been announced.”
Take all this with a grain of salt, but it definitely seems like something new is brewing in the Star Wars gaming world. Stay tuned for more information as it develops.
