People can say what they want about the Prequel Trilogy, but there is no arguing the fact that the lightsaber fights in all three films were some of the best in the franchise. The ultimate duel is probably the Anakin vs Obi-Wan scene at the end of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The shear voracity in which Anakin attacks Obi-Wan, and the way that Kenobi is torn about this battle, sells the movie on its own.

Now thanks to the Instagram account saberproject, we have a look at what might have been for that epic final duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan. The video shows a different take on the final battle between the two.

While Ewan McGregor is not seen in this test footage, Hayden Christensen and the stunt team can be seen. The whole video was shot to give George Lucas an idea of how the final battle might play out. Small parts of this video were released in the featurette “Star Wars It’s All For Real: The Stunts Of Episode III”. It was first seen on the Revenge of the Sith DVD, but you can also easily find it online.

I will leave it up to you to determine which was best. The test footage shown below, or the original screen version. As usual, leave your thoughts in the comment section.

About Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith:

It has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side.
