Veteran actor Gary Oldman joined The Playlist to talk about his newest work on the Apple+ series Slow Horses, but spilled the beans on some interesting Star Wars news. During the interview, Oldman claimed that he originally signed on to voice General Grievous in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
“Well, I did a voice for ‘Star Wars’…was it General Grievous?” Oldman said, unable to fully recall the name of the character at first. Oldman explained that ultimately, some of the Australian rules of union filmmaking, where the film was shot, prevented Lucas from using his voice. “What happened was something to do with union stuff and non-union stuff,” he said. “I was not going to be the poster boy for [breaking union rules].”
But to hear it from Oldman, he recorded his lines and spent time with George Lucas. “[Lucas] directed me the whole thing; yeah, he was terrific,” he said. “No regrets about that but the other stuff is rumors,” the actor said, dismissing his purported involvement in the more recent sequel trilogy.
As we know, Lucasfilm’s Matthew Wood, took on the task of voicing Grievous in both Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Don’t feel too bad for Oldman though, he went on to play Commissioner Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, as well as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter franchise.
Could Oldman ever be persuaded to join the Star Wars universe again? Only time will tell…
It has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side.

How Grievous works in Battlefront 2…
In Star Wars Battlefront II, General Grievous is designed to instigate fear and feel like an overwhelming opponent. His body frame is among the largest compared to any other character in the game, and he engages in combat with two – sometimes four – lightsabers.
For base attack sequences, General Grievous swings two lightsabers. While on defense, he can also use the same to deflect enemy sabers and blaster shots.
But the skilled fighter was also known for his signature moves featuring no less than four Jedi weapons, which were all conquered from their previous owners (we’ve modeled his lightsabers after their appearances in Star Wars™: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith™). In Star Wars Battlefront II, we’ve transferred a couple of those moves to his Abilities.
First, we have Thrust Surge. This one was referenced from an encounter between Grievous and Obi-Wan in the Clone Warsseries. The attack thrusts Grievous forward with all four lightsabers in a stabbing motion, dealing damage and throwing the target to the ground.
The second is Unrelenting Advance. As seen in another battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith, Grievous forms a spinning lightsaber wall in front of him, with sparks igniting from the floor, as he advances like a horrifying machine. Going into Unrelenting Advance, General Grievous blocks all frontal attacks while dealing damage to anyone foolishly standing in his way.
Speaking to his strategist side, General Grievous’ Claw Rush Ability lets him flee the scene in the blink of an eye. Once activated, he goes down on all six limbs and rushes forward, damaging and pushing opponents out of his path. An unsettling sight for enemies to behold – and highly efficient when in urgent need of an escape route.

Star Wars Battlefront focuses on the fast frenetic battles that you love in the star wars saga. Fight dozens of troopers alongside memorable heroes like Darth Vader each with unique skills and attributes. Chances are you’ve already played the first one and Battlefront 2 promises to deliver where it fell short. You want a story mode? You want clone troopers? You want deeper gameplay? The team at DICE seems to be trying to please the fans with this one (unless you wanted those fun 32v32 battles from the originals).
Bandai is known for some fantastic models, and as of late, have been adding some seriously nice Star Wars vehicles to their portfolio. Now they are releasing a General Grievous kit. The closest thing to a model of this character that we have, is LEGO’s General Grievous. The Bandai General Grievous is here to fix that.
The new kit should be available July 2017, and will be a 1/12 General Grievous model kit. It will sell for 4,860 yen or about $45.00.

About Disney Tsum Tsum:
Disney Tsum Tsum is the name of a range of collectible stuffed toys based upon popular Disney characters (including characters from the Disney-owned Star Wars and Marvel franchises). The name is derived from the Japanese verb tsumu meaning “to stack”, because the toys are shaped like rectangles and designed to stack on top of each other, forming a pyramid shape.
The toys were first released in Japan in 2013 as a tie-in to the Tsum Tsum arcade and mobile games respectively developed by Konami and Line Corporation.
