The History of Anakin Skywalker in LEGO Format

In a new advertisement for their streaming series LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales, Lucasfilm has spliced together some footage to give us a look at the history of Anakin Skywalker in LEGO Format. Seen through the eyes of C-3PO and R2-D2, this video gives us a kid-friendly look at young Anakin all the way through to his decision that would change the galaxy forever.

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales serves as the perfect gateway for introducing kids to the expansive Star Wars universe. Its playful animation style, charming humor, and simplified storytelling make the vast galaxy far, far away accessible to younger audiences. Unlike the sometimes intense and complex nature of the live-action films, Droid Tales distills the essential moments from all six episodes of the original and prequel trilogies into bite-sized, engaging stories. Told from the perspective of C-3PO and R2-D2, the familiar droid duo adds a sense of whimsy and lightheartedness that keeps things fun and family-friendly.

The series is brilliantly self-aware, blending iconic Star Wars moments with LEGO’s signature brand of humor. Serious confrontations are softened with clever jokes, and dramatic reveals are often accompanied by playful twists. This not only keeps children entertained but also introduces them to the major plot points and characters in a way that’s easy to grasp. For kids who may find the politics of The Phantom Menace or the darker themes of Revenge of the Sith a bit heavy, Droid Tales provides a perfect introduction that emphasizes adventure and fun over conflict and complexity.

Moreover, Droid Tales serves as a fantastic bonding experience for families. Parents who are long-time Star Wars fans can enjoy the clever nods and in-jokes sprinkled throughout the series, while kids laugh at the slapstick humor and visual gags. It’s a bridge between generations, making it easy for parents to share their love of Star Wars with their children in a format that’s approachable and thoroughly enjoyable. By the time the final credits roll, kids are not only familiar with the core story of the Skywalker Saga but are also eager to explore the films and series that inspired it.

Anakin Gets Pulled WHERE?!? | LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales | @StarWarsKids

What is LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales?

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is a five-episode animated miniseries that reimagines the entire Star Wars saga through the eyes of C-3PO and R2-D2. Set after the events of Return of the Jedi, the story begins with the Rebels celebrating their victory over the Empire. C-3PO decides to recount the epic adventures that led them to this moment, taking fans on a nostalgic journey from The Phantom Menace all the way to Return of the Jedi.

True to the LEGO Star Wars tradition, Droid Tales is packed with humor, clever twists, and playful reinterpretations of iconic moments. While C-3PO narrates, R2-D2’s humorous beeps and antics add a layer of charm that fans of all ages can appreciate. However, the storytelling takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious figure steals a ship—and R2-D2 with it—prompting C-3PO to embark on a galaxy-spanning rescue mission.

With its blend of comedy and adventure, LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is a lighthearted tribute to the Star Wars universe, perfect for both long-time fans and younger audiences discovering the saga for the first time.

Iron Studios Unveils Awesome Anakin Skywalker Pod Racer Statue!

Iron Studios has just put up for pre-order a fantastic looking Anakin Skywalker and Pod Racer statue! It looks like it flew right off the screen into your hands! The upcoming statue is $749.99 and will ship in Q1 of 2024. You can pre-order right from their site.

Over the scorching sands from the desolate and desertic planet Tatooine, among gorges, mountains, caves, and treacherous rocky formations, a dangerous and mortal race competition takes place. Moving in high speed with perilous maneuvers, one-man repulsorcrafts known simply as Podracers compete among themselves, like sleds propelled by big turbine engines. Believing to be the only human being capable of competing, in a scenario in which this sport is usually practiced by aliens from various worlds, an enslaved boy from the Mos Espa market, joins a Jedi master in a bet in which the prize is his freedom. Over a diorama base replicating part of the race’s track, with one of the propeller turbines raising clouds of sand next to the ground, displaying a dynamic scene with the vehicle inclined as if it’s turning a curve, Iron Studios present the statue “Anakin’s Podracer – Star Wars – Demi Art Scale 1/20”, with the young Skywalker in his vehicle built by his own hands, in the emblematic scene where he fights for his freedom in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) which celebrates its 25th Anniversary, commemorated by Iron Studios with this release!

Anakin Skywalker was born on the desert planet Tatooine, in the Outer Rim Territories, in 41 ABY. He was the son of Shmi Skywalker, an enslaved woman that conceived a fatherless son. His blood had midi-chlorians (intelligent and microscopic life forms that originated from the foundation of life in the center of the galaxy and ultimately resided within the cells of all living organisms, thereby forming a symbiotic relationship with their hosts: The Force), which surpass the Grand Master Yoda and all the other Jedi on the galaxy. The Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn discovered Anakin during the invasion of Naboo in 32 ABY and theorized that Skywalker was conceived by the midi-chlorians. Betting on races was a popular hobby among many in Tatooine, and was through a bet made by Qui-Gon with Watto, Anakin’s owner, that Skywalker was set free. Anakin Skywalker won the Boonta Eve Classic, an annual Podrace and cultural event taking place in Tatooine, happening inside and around the Grand Arena in Mos Espa, defeating the favorite and treacherous Sebulba, and guaranteeing his freedom from a life of enslavement.

Anakin Vs Obi-Wan Test Footage Might be Better than the Screen Version

Anakin vs Obi-Wan

People can say what they want about the Prequel Trilogy, but there is no arguing the fact that the lightsaber fights in all three films were some of the best in the franchise. The ultimate duel is probably the Anakin vs Obi-Wan scene at the end of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The shear voracity in which Anakin attacks Obi-Wan, and the way that Kenobi is torn about this battle, sells the movie on its own.

Now thanks to the Instagram account saberproject, we have a look at what might have been for that epic final duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan. The video shows a different take on the final battle between the two.

While Ewan McGregor is not seen in this test footage, Hayden Christensen and the stunt team can be seen. The whole video was shot to give George Lucas an idea of how the final battle might play out. Small parts of this video were released in the featurette “Star Wars It’s All For Real: The Stunts Of Episode III”. It was first seen on the Revenge of the Sith DVD, but you can also easily find it online.

I will leave it up to you to determine which was best. The test footage shown below, or the original screen version. As usual, leave your thoughts in the comment section.

About Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith:

It has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side.

New Star Wars Battlefront II Community Update Released by EA

EA has just released the latest update to Star Wars Battlefront II, which includes updated looks for most of the Clone Troopers and the introduction of Anakin Skywalker (voiced by Matt Lanter). Check out the video above, and some extra information about the new update below!

How to Play as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Battlefront II

Anakin is an extremely powerful lightsaber wielder. While his master Obi-Wan Kenobi is an expert of defensive combat, Anakin is on the other side of the spectrum, with melee attacks second to none in Star Wars Battlefront II. His offensive power with a lightsaber is demonstrated even more when using his guard-breaking and high-damage Passionate Strike.

You’ll also experience The Chosen One’s might with the Force. While focusing to deliver his Heroic Impact, Anakin absorbs a lot more damage. As a matter of fact, any incoming attacks against Anakin will make this Ability even stronger. When released, he sends all surrounding opponents flying with a 360-degree Force push.

Furthermore, using the Pull Dominance Ability, Anakin pulls his enemies in front of him, leaving the targets vulnerable to follow-up attacks. This Ability is especially effective combined with an ally’s area of effect attack.

And to capture Anakin’s care and passion for others, he’s been given a fourth and unique ultimate Ability: Retribution. As Anakin and his nearby allies take damage, his anger builds up, ultimately unleashing a Force choke on all enemies in the area.

Anakin Skywalker’s Appearances, Additional Clone Trooper Legions, and More

Anakin Skywalker is wearing his Jedi Knight outfit by default, with the Jedi Robes as an unlockable alternative. Led by him during the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion is joining the ranks of the Galactic Republic as new clone trooper appearances, too. The Coruscant Guard, missioned with peace keeping on the capital planet with the same name, arrives with this update as well.

Some other updates to the clone army are heading your way, including fixes to current legion appearances, and the opportunity to play as armored officers.

*All updates require Star WarsTM BattlefrontTM II on applicable platform (sold separately), all game updates, internet connection, EA account, and, for console players, Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership (each sold separately).

**New heroes are available for Credits earned in-game.

***Appearances available for Credits earned in-game or Crystals.

About Star Wars Battlefront 2:

Star Wars Battlefront focuses on the fast frenetic battles that you love in the star wars saga. Fight dozens of troopers alongside memorable heroes like Darth Vader each with unique skills and attributes. Chances are you’ve already played the first one and Battlefront 2 promises to deliver where it fell short. You want a story mode? You want clone troopers? You want deeper gameplay? The team at DICE seems to be trying to please the fans with this one (unless you wanted those fun 32v32 battles from the originals).

What the Future Holds for Star Wars Battlefront II

Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

It seems like we have been reporting on Star Wars Battlefront II more now than we did when the game first debuted. Today’s news comes straight from EA, where the company has provided a roadmap for the game over the next couple of months.

Star Wars Battlefront II in January:

January sees the first appearance of Count Dooku in the game. From the roadmap’s list, we will get him with an additional appearance (skin). We will also be getting a new look for Clone Troopers in January as well, in the form of the Coruscant Guard (skins).

Star Wars Battlefront II in February:

February is going to be an even bigger month for the game! In this month we get the addition of Anakin Skywalker along with a secondary appearance (skin). Clone Troopers aren’t left out either, with the addition of the 501st appearance (skins).

February also sees the release of a new game mode featuring capture points and capital ships. A little bit later in the month you can fight through the Venator-class Destroyer of the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Dreadnaught as part of our new game mode, featuring capture points and capital ship takedowns.

If you haven’t been playing this game, or were turned off about the controversy surrounding the release of the game, then now is the time to make a return, and enjoy one of the best Star Wars gaming experiences around!

Now if we could only get confirmation on Ahsoka…

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way Out of Cloud City…

Luke Skywalker loses his hand (The Empire Strikes Back)

I remember the first time I saw Luke lose his hand to Darth Vader in Cloud City. I was around six years old and had no clue what movie was on the television. I was staying over at a friend’s home and his dad had The Empire Strikes Back playing on the television. I remember the moment being a visceral memory, as I’d never seen a hero maimed before. I remember the confusion at watching the battered Luke scurry away from Vader out onto the narrow walkway, then the shock as he falls away and hangs onto that antenna in what looks like an impossible predicament. I don’t really remember much about watching his eventual rescue, but that stuck in my mind as an important message: heroes don’t always win.

Star Wars has had an interesting track record of lost limbs that come close to being a staple of the series, since this is a universe where a lost limb isn’t a permanent hindrance on a character. So, in honor of Luke wondering what happened to his hand down in the depths of Cloud City, let’s look at my top 5 instances of lost limbs in Star Wars. We’re going to stick to the new canon in this list, so Qorl and his awesome droid arm only get an honorable pre-list mention. Sorry, Qorl.

Count Dooku, Revenge of the Sith (both hands, and then head):

Count Dooku loses hands and head (Revenge of the Sith)
Count Dooku loses hands and head (Revenge of the Sith)

In his final duel with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku was overconfident. He’d already beaten them both two years ago and cut off Anakin’s right hand. This time, he was convinced he’d finally kill them and his master, Sidious, would complete his plan to take full control of the Republic and exterminate the Jedi. The only problem was that Sidious left out some parts, like Dooku’s true role in the events. Nearly killing Obi-Wan, Dooku sent Anakin into a rage that he couldn’t keep up with, ending with Skywalker taking both of his hands in one swift motion. Dooku, down on his knees, looked to Palpatine and realized the final cruel truth: he was always a tool. Urged by Palpatine, Anakin then finishes him off with the help of Dooku’s own curved lightsaber, bringing the young Jedi ever closer to the Dark Side.

Darth Maul, The Phantom Menace (cut in half at the waist):

Darth Maul Cut in Half (The Phantom Menace)
Darth Maul Cut in Half (The Phantom Menace)

“At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.” Darth Maul’s only dialogue in The Phantom Menace spoke to his entire character in a way that we wouldn’t really see until after his defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The deadly Sith apprentice, excelling at dual-bladed lightsabers, took on the Padawan Kenobi and his Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn in the Theed Generator Facility. After a lengthy battle, Kenobi was separated from the melee and was helpless to stop Maul putting his blade though Qui-Gon’s chest. Kenobi attacked Maul in a flurry which ended with him nearly falling into a pit. While Maul taunted him with showers of sparks, Kenobi called on the Force to leap out of the pit while pulling his master’s lightsaber to him. Maul was too late to react and was cut in half by the Padawan. Falling into the pit, Maul would manage to survive and gain a new set of legs, always keeping in his mind his hatred and burning fury toward the one who broke him.

Anakin Skywalker, Revenge of the Sith (left arm and both legs):

Anakin loses arm and legs (Revenge of the Sith)
Anakin loses arm and legs (Revenge of the Sith)

By the events of Revenge of the Sith, Anakin and Obi-Wan had earned a reputation as an almost unbeatable team. They were the greatest heroes of an era that didn’t realize it was ending. They saved the day in the Battle of Coruscant. They killed the evil Count Dooku. They saved Chancellor Palpatine. Of course, their bond was an obstacle for Palpatine, as he needed Skywalker isolated to guide him to the Dark Side. Anakin was finally successfully turned by Palpatine, becoming Vader. This culminated in Kenobi confronting Anakin (now Vader) on Mustafar and their fateful and heartbreaking battle. At the end, over a river of lava, Obi-Wan lept to safety above the shoreline, claiming the high ground. Anakin, arrogant to a fault, tried to call his bluff. Unfortunately for him, Obi-Wan knew what would happen next, as he did the same thing years ago in his battle against Darth Maul. Anakin’s attempt was swiftly countered by a clean swipe that took away all of his remaining limbs, leaving him on the burning shore with only his synthetic arm. This injury, along with the lava burning him, left him needing the infamous life-support suit and three new synthetic limbs.

Darth Vader, Return of the Jedi (right hand):

Darth Vader loses hand (Return of the Jedi)
Darth Vader loses hand (Return of the Jedi)

Nothing says catharsis like cutting off your evil father’s hand in a heated battle after he threatens to turn your sister to the Dark Side. In the Emperor’s Throne Room of the second Death Star, Luke Skywalker was on a mission to save his father from the Dark Side. Emperor Palpatine, meanwhile, had his own mission: to turn the son of Skywalker to the Dark Side, or to eliminate him. The Emperor taunted Luke into attacking him, prompting Vader to defend his master. Luke remained passive in the battle, refusing to go on the offensive against his father to the point that he hid from the fight. When Vader discovered his daughter’s existence from Luke’s feelings, he threatened to turn her instead if Luke wouldn’t. This sent Luke into a fury, teetering on the Dark Side as he attacked Vader head on, forcing him down and taking his right synthetic hand with a vicious strike. The sight of the wires in his father’s artificial arm brought a moment of clarity to Luke. He saw that continuing down the path of anger and hatred would just cause history to repeat itself. I know it seems strange to have an artificial limb on the list, but the impact the event had on the story made it worthy of the list to me.

Luke Skywalker (right hand):

Luke Skywalker loses his hand (The Empire Strikes Back)
Luke Skywalker loses his hand (The Empire Strikes Back)

For our final and number one lost limb, we go back to where I began this story. Luke is on Cloud City, now an amateur Jedi with a head full of arrogance. His plan to save his friends falls apart as he discovers that they are only the carrot, with Vader being the stick. After narrowly escaping a carbonite trap, being pummeled with Force-thrown projectiles, and being sucked out of a depressurized observation port and thrown on a catwalk, Skywalker had taken a beating and was becoming desperate. As Vader attacked once more, Luke managed to hit Vader’s arm, angering the Dark Lord. Vader quickly knocked aside Luke’s next attacks, opening his defenses and allowing for the red blade to take off his hand at the wrist. The battle was finished at that point, leaving Luke only the option to keep his distance by crawling out to the perilous ledge. Vader revealed his true identity, leaving a traumatized Luke to fall into the depths of Cloud City rather than be captured by his evil paterfamilias. After the rescue, Luke had a wake-up call, realizing that while Yoda and Kenobi may have hidden truth of his father from him, he also realized that he wasn’t ready to confront Vader after all. He had acted as a swashbuckling hero that wanted to save the day. “Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves not these things.” Luke did learn from his mistake, and by the time we see him again in Return of the Jedi, he is a calm and cool-headed Jedi Master. Too bad it took losing a hand and finding out his dad was an evil dictator’s right-hand man.

Both the prequel trilogy and original trilogy have had characters lose an arm or leg (I think there’s a joke somewhere in there about what it takes to save the day), but we’ve had little indication as to whether this morbid trend will continue into the sequel trilogy. Will Rey lose a hand? Will Finn lose a foot? Will Poe lose his snark? I guess we’ll have to wait until Star Wars: The Last Jedi to find out, but at least December is right around the corner.
