Star Wars Episode IX Release Date Pushed Back

This morning we learned that Star Wars Episode IX would be getting a new director. J.J. Abrams was returning to “finish what he had started”. (See what I did there?) Now news is breaking that the film’s release date has been pushed back to December 20, 2019!

This news should probably not come as a shock to fans. Abrams fought to push back the release date of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so that he could get the film just right. This move gives him time to really work on the script and make it something truly special.

As for this Star Wars reporter, I am in total favor of returning to a Christmas release date. Now if we can only get Lucasfilm to move that Han Solo date…
