The Costume Designers Guild announced this year’s award winners this week. The show took place at NeueHouse Hollywood on February 21. Our favorite franchise Star Wars, was nominated in the sci-fi/fantasy category for excellence in television, thanks to Shawna Trpcic’s work in The Mandalorian Chapter 22, “Guns for Hire” and Star Wars: Ahsoka Chapter 8, “The Jedi Who”.

The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday, and Trpcic was announced as the winner for her work in the latter episode. Unfortunately, the costume designer passed away last October and it is not yet known who accepted the award on her behalf. Other nominations include Christine Wada for Loki episode “1893,” Laura Montgomery for “What We Do in the Shadows” episode “Pride Parade,” and Lucinda Wright for “The Witcher” episode “The Art of Illusion“.

Born in Artesia, California, Trpcic received her first costume designer credit in 1990, steadily building her career on scores of productions both large and small before finding a regular home on Lucasfilm productions, beginning with the second season of The Mandalorian in 2019.

She was also nominated for an Emmy earlier this year for his work on Guns for Hire, but that award ultimately went to House of the Dragon.
