Normally we don’t report on the rumor mill, but the Force is telling us that there might be some truth to this bit of information. StarWarsNewsNet, is reporting that Disney is planning on producing an Obi-Wan Kenobi television series for the Disney+ streaming service.
The Kenobi project was initially supposed to be a film, as had been reported several times over the last few years. The site was supposedly told that the Kenobi film was actually supposed to start production shortly after Solo premiered, but everything changed after the disappointing box office performance of the film. This leads most to suspect that this was one of the meanings from Bob Iger’s “rethinking our approach” statement from last year. Ewan McGregor at the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story, is starting to make more since as well, especially if Kenobi would have been announced soon after.
The site goes on to say that this show is a top priority for the Disney+ streaming service. Obi-Wan Kenobi could be as many as six episodes.
StarWarsNewsNet says that there are many Star Wars “TV series” rumors out there right now (Rose, Lando and more), but they were told Kenobi is happening and will go into production.
Let’s all hope that this is more than just a rumor. I have always felt that Kenobi would be suited much better by long form storytelling (television series), rather than a movie or two.
What do you think? Is this something you will definitely be seeing? As always, leave your thoughts below!
