Secure Your Pre-Order for the S.H.Figuarts The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Version

The galaxy’s most iconic duo is heading to the silver screen, and Tamashii Nations is wasting no time bringing their updated cinematic looks to your display shelf. Bandai has officially announced the S.H.Figuarts The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Version, a premium 2-pack specifically designed to celebrate the upcoming feature film, STAR WARS: The Mandalorian and Grogu.

With pre-orders set to open on March 3, 2026, at 4:00 pm JST, collectors are already bracing for what is sure to be one of the fastest-selling releases of the year. This isn’t just a simple repack of previous Mando figures, it’s a significant upgrade that introduces new sculpts and material choices to reflect their big-screen evolution.

What’s New in the Movie Version?

The S.H.Figuarts The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Version marks a shift toward even higher realism for the 6-inch scale line. While Din Djarin’s Beskar armor remains the gold standard for bounty hunter chic, this set features “partially newly sculpted parts” to align with the specific aesthetics seen in the movie’s production.

The most notable upgrades include:

  • Fabric Grogu Outfit: In a move that will please soft-goods fans, Grogu’s robes are now recreated using high-quality fabric. This allows for more natural sitting and standing poses, moving away from the “static” plastic look of previous iterations.
  • All-New Hover Pram: The child’s essential pod has been completely redesigned with an all-new sculpt. This updated pram reflects the wear and tear (or perhaps the upgrades) seen in the latest chapter of their journey.
  • Refined Proportions: Tamashii Nations has tweaked the Mandalorian’s silhouette to better capture the onscreen presence of the character as he transitions from Disney+ to the theater.

With The Mandalorian and Grogu movie serving as a massive milestone for the Star Wars franchise, this S.H.Figuarts set is going to be a hot-ticket item for the film’s launch.

Historically, S.H.Figuarts has outperformed competitors in articulation and paint application. This movie-specific set continues that tradition, offering the “Clan of Two” with the level of detail that only the Japanese import market consistently provides. Whether you are a “mint-on-card” collector or an avid toy photographer, the inclusion of the fabric robes on Grogu and the updated armor details on Mando make this a mandatory upgrade.

FPS Mandalorian Game Cancelled, While Third Installment of Jedi Series in Development Amongst EA Shakeup

Some huge news from EA dropped yesterday, and it seems many employees at the company have lost their jobs. The company announced a huge company wide shake-up, that is resulting in 5% of the company losing their jobs. This number equates to around 670 employees.

Following CEO Andrew Wilson’s announcement of the cuts today, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele shared a note with staff explaining in more detail what EA’s business priorities would be going forward. This includes her announcement that EA is shutting down an early development Star Wars FPS action game as a part of an ongoing focus on its own owned brands and supporting its existing games.

“It’s always hard to walk away from a project, and this decision is not a reflection of the team’s talent, tenacity, or passion they have for the game,” Miele wrote. “Giving fans the next installments of the iconic franchises they want is the definition of blockbuster storytelling and the right place to focus.”

Website IGN reports that the team that was working on the now cancelled Mandalorian project will be reassigned to other games including Iron Man, Black Panther, Apex Legends, and the third entry in the Star Wars Jedi saga.

It hasn’t been a good last couple of years for the video gaming industry. For the financial quarter ending in December of 2023, EA reported net bookings of $2.37 billion (up 7% year over year) and net revenue of $1.945 billion, largely driven by EA Sports FC and Madden. The company’s layoff of roughly 670 individuals is yet another instance of ongoing mass layoffs rocking the entire industry, impacting roughly 10,000 developers in 2023, and approaching 8,000 in just the first two months of 2024. EA itself already laid off 6% of its workforce almost a year ago, with Wilson at the time citing very similar motivations to this year’s. Despite those layoffs, the total headcount prior to today’s cuts is higher (13,400) than it was during the last mass layoff (12,900).

The company’s SEC filing states that the company will take on approximately $125 million to $165 million in costs in connection with these layoffs, including costs related to office space reductions, severance, and costs related to licensor commitments, likely related to the canceled Star Wars game.

It seems getting a video game completed and out to the public is becoming harder and harder. With this news, it also seems like my dreams of a third installment of Star Wars: Battlefront will never come to fruition.

With all of that said, hopefully these employees that were let go, will get back on their feet quickly with different companies working on successful games!

‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Wins Emmy!

The first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards sees a win for the Star Wars franchise. In the category for Outstanding Stunt Performance, Lateef Crowder, Paul Darnell, JJ Dashnaw, and Ryan Ryusaki took home an award for their work on “Chapter 24: The Return.” The Mandalorian season 3 was also nominated for eight other awards Saturday.

The Mandalorian was up against some fierce competition with FBI: Most Wanted and Stranger Things season 4 for this award. This actaully marks the 15th Emmy for the show through three seasons.

The other eight categories that the show was up for were:

  • Outstanding Cinematography for Half-Hour Series (Atlanta)
  • Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes (House of the Dragon)
  • Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling (Queen Charlotte)
  • Outstanding Period and/or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel)
  • Outstanding Sound Editing for Half-Hour Series (The Bear)
  • Outstanding Sound Mixing for Half-Hour Series (The Bear)
  • Outstanding Visual Effects (The Last of Us won)
  • Outstanding Stunt Coordination (The Boys)

The televised Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, January 15. The Mandalorian will not be present there, as the nine categories it was nominated in have already been called. But Star Wars will still have a presence through Andor, which is up for multiple awards including Best Drama Series (likely to go to Succession, though), and Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is up for Best Limited or Anthology Series.
