What You Need to Watch Before Ahsoka!

What exactly does the average fan need to watch before they start streaming Ahsoka in August? Well, it’s a good thing Collider interviewed Dave Filoni at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, and asked him this exact question! You can either read the answer below, or check out the short interview in the video, which also includes more questions concerning the upcoming series, that Filoni slyly avoids answering…

“That’s an interesting question. I would say it’s pretty relative when you do this kind of work. One thing Jon and I are very adamant about is we try to cut it down and strip it down to keep it moving. It’s definitely a faster and more intense rule than George has. My episodes have actually started pretty long, you know, because I wrote them all, so they are a little different. Probably, relative to other stuff that I’ve written and done, like the episode “The Jedi”. If it’s gotta be tight and fast because I need the action to work, it’s gonna be shorter, but I would say they are in the same range as The Mandalorian episodes… Maybe on average a little longer, but I honestly I don’t know where they are right now, in the most recent cuts that I’ve done, but I would say it’s in the same range.”

Dave Filoni on Writing Ahsoka, Future Star Wars Series, and Rebels

So there you have it. It seems that a quick rewatch of Star Wars: Rebels season four will be the perfect primer before starting Ahsoka in August. So no excuses people. Go hop on Disney+ right now and check out season four. It’s only fifteen episodes. You can do it!

Dark Horse to Release Star Wars Rebels Trade

Star Wars Rebels TP

In a move that seems to have come out of left field, Dark Horse Comics is back in the business of publishing Star Wars comic books, or at least this one trade paperback. The company is a doing a full reprint of the Star Wars Rebels mini comics from the German Star Wars: Rebels Magazine.

Dark Horse Comics lost the publishing rights to Star Wars after the Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion in 2012. Marvel (also owned by Disney) took back the publishing license for “Star Wars” comics which resulted in a complete reboot of the “Star Wars” line in January of 2015. At the time, the reboot was one of the most popular comic book initiatives to hit the industry in years.

Licensing works in weird ways it seems. Kudos to Dark Horse Comics for getting to go back to the well one more time and give fans another look at some of this foreign material.

HOT KALLUS NOT AS HOT IN PERSON SAYS ACTOR

Hot Kallus

In the final season of Star Wars Rebels, former Imperial Agent Kallus became a fully fledged member of the Rebellion, shed his Imperial looks and to some, turned into a dreamy heartthrob! This new look earned him the nickname, “Hot Kallus”.

In a recent interview with People, actor David Oyelowo, who brought Agent Kallus to life, describes how fans react to him upon learning that he is Hot Kallus. Check out the short clip embedded in the tweet below.

https://twitter.com/peopletv/status/1193302246768824321

“The weird thing that happened during Star Wars Rebels was that my character took this kind of unexpected evolution where he went from being this guy to what became popularly known as ‘Hot Kallus.’ They kind of let his hair down a little bit more, he grew out the sideburns a bit. I think I was just a perpetual disappointment when the fans would meet me. They’d go, ‘Oh my God, this guy is Hot Kallus,’ and I’d go, ‘Hi, I’m David Oyelowo, and I’m Hot Kallus, I guess?’”

You will be able to catch up on every episode of Star Wars Rebels, as the full run hits Disney+, Tuesday November 12.

For those that need a little reminder of who “Hot Kallus” was…

Kevin Kiner Finishes Score for Star Wars Rebels

In a bit of sad news, it seems as if the reality of Star Wars Rebels wrapping up is starting to sink in. Composer Kevin Kiner has finished scoring the last half of Star Wars Rebels season 4. Executive Producer Dave Filoni tweeted an image of the orchestra playing their final notes for the score, with a nice loth-cat shadow appearing in the front.

Only a few episodes are left in season 4, that should wrap up the Star Wars Rebels storyline. Hopefully some of our favorite Rebels survive the upcoming episodes. We do know that Hera and Chopper make it through because of their appearance/mention in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
