One of the best moments in Solo: A Star Wars Story (spoilers), was the appearance of everyone’s second favorite Sith, Darth Maul (or just Maul as he is called in the film, no longer a Sith). To celebrate the characters reemergence in the Star Wars film galaxy, Forbes sat down with Maul actor Ray Park to discuss him coming back to the Star Wars franchise.
In addition to the nice interview, we also got two amazing promotional shots of Ray Park as Maul for the film. We can clearly see the robotic legs and feet for the character as well as the awesome lightsaber he is seen with in the film.
A few days later a third promotional shot of Park as Maul appeared online as well. Enjoy the three detailed photos below!

One of my favorite modern Star Wars collectibles has to be Mystery Minis from Funko. Mystery Minis are basically figures packaged in a small box that looks exactly like every other box in the case. The idea is that the identity of the figures are kept secret until you open the box. While Funko POP have taken a nice section of my display room, the Mystery Minis are quietly building their case as my favorite Star Wars Funko product.
#Note – Funko provided a sample Smuggler’s Bounty box for the purpose of this review.
Upon opening the newest Smuggler’s Bounty box from Funko, I was pleasantly surprised to find another Mystery Mini in this box. Last month’s box contained a Star Wars: The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker Mystery Mini! Unlike last month’s box, there is only one available figure (there were two different versions of Luke).
We will review the entire box during next week’s podcast, but this piece was just too cool not to share. Darth Maul is one of fandom’s top Star Wars villains, even though his theatrical appearance lasted all of about six minutes. The overall look of the character immediately made him one of interest to collectors and fans.
The overall sculpt of the piece fits right in line with the rest of Funko’s Star Wars Mystery Minis. He comes with the same base that all of the figures come with, so he can interlock with the rest of your figures. The paint application is also spot on. My only complaint is one that I have with this entire line. Figures with lightsabers always seem to have them bent, due to the packaging process. I doubt this is something that can truly be fixed, but a little hot water will probably allow you to bend it back in place.

This figure is well worth the price of the Smuggler’s Bounty box!
The only problem I have now, is deciding where to put him. To this point, Funko has only released Star Wars Mystery Minis based on Star Wars: A New Hope, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I guess he will be the official start of my Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Mystery Minis collection.

Darth Maul (or just Maul actually) made his return to Star Wars Rebels Season 3 this past weekend in ‘Visions and Voices’. ComicBook.com sat down with Maul actor Sam Witwer to discuss the character’s motivations for season 3.
“He’s nearing 50. If he’s not smarter and wiser, then boy, he really hasn’t been doing anything. He’s been screwing up,” actor Sam Witwer, who portrays Maul on Rebels and before on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, told Comicbook.com. “He’s smarter than perhaps anyone knew. Darth Maul is a smart guy, he was trained quite well by Sidious with the intellectual threat rather than just the physical threat; going forward from there to meet Darth Maul later, he had to be even smarter than that because just the fact that he survives that 16 years with the Empire coming to power, he had to be even more careful than he was before.”
He goes on to say that, “Maul is actually a real threat, but at the same time, you’ve got Darth Vader, you have The Emperor, you have the resources of the Empire. Darth Maul is in dire straits.”
If you watched the mid-season finale of Star Wars Rebels Season 3, then you know that both Maul and the Rebels team are now searching for Obi-Wan Kenobi. It seems that he is the key to destroying the Sith (for the Rebels) and the “answer” that Maul is looking for.
Check out the link at the bottom of the page as Sam Witwer talks Star Wars Rebels season 3 in greater detail.

About Star Wars Rebels Season 3:
Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet – a direct assault on the Empire.

“Darth Maul was, as you might imagine, my favorite character in The Phantom Menace,” says Cullen Bunn in an interview with Marvel.com. “I loved that we were seeing a new kind of Sith. Though he was only in the movie for a few short scenes, he left his mark. I couldn’t help but wonder what had driven his brash, impatient anger. That’s part of what we’re exploring with this book.”
