Star Wars Launch Bay Returns to Disney World!

Some welcome news is coming from Orlando and inside the gates at Hollywood Studios! It seems as if Disney World is set to reopen the Star Wars Launch Bay for some classic meet-and-greets with your favorite Star Wars characters.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, July 17 will see the doors open at the Star Wars Launch Bay with an opportunity to meet BB-8, Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars Launch Bay returns July 17! A celebration of the legendary space saga, Star Wars Launch Bay is your place for a warm embrace with Chewbacca, a face-to-droid encounter with BB-8 or a run-in with Darth Vader himself for those brave enough.

Regal Robot™ is proud to present their CUSTOM EDITION life-sized Chewbacca™ busts by their Custom Character Studio. An authentically crafted 1:1 recreation of everyone’s favorite Wookiee™, this bust stands a giant 36″ tall and includes head and shoulders as well as a portion of hand-made and distressed leather and metal bandolier section.

When ordering this custom item, you’ll be given the option of two different static head sculpts – the Standard Bust (with the mouth slightly open) or, at an additional cost, the Roaring Bust (with mouth wide open in a dramatic roar!).

Life-Sized Chewbacca Bust from Regal Robot

The neck on this extra-large bust is poseable, allowing you to tilt his head, lean it front to back and also turn left to right, giving you a variety of display possibilities.

Each bust is produced in their New York studios, with hours of hands-on work by our professional FX artists. The head is hand painted prior to hand-glued FX style hair, applied in small sections at a time, just like Stuart Freeborn did on the original movie masks. PETER MAYHEW PASSES AT 74

Outer Rim News is very sad to report that Peter Mayhew, best known for playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies, has passed away at the age of 74.

According to various outlets, Peter Mayhew died on Tuesday at his home in North Texas with family members by his side. The actor’s official Twitter account shared the news moments ago.

Mayhew debuted as Chewbacca in the original Star Wars movie, and reprised the role for The Star Wars Holiday Special, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, and The Force Awakens, and also in an episode of The Muppet Show (The Stars of Star Wars). He also served as a consultant on The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story after Joonas Suotamo took over as Chewbacca in 2015.

Mayhew is survived by his wife, Angie, and his three children.

Hot Wheels Reveals New Star Wars Character Cars

The fine folks over at Yakface.com are reporting news of a couple of new Mattel Star Wars Hot Wheels cars showing up online. The packaging features the new black Star Wars logo, which seems to be the logo we will be seeing across all brands next year (even Amazon now has it as a brand logo when you search for Star Wars items on their site).

The two new cars shown are the Tie-Fighter Pilot and a cute Chewbacca with Porg. Check out the images to get a better idea of what you will probably be purchasing, below.

Hasbro sent over a few official images and quick details for their Star Wars reveals from Paris Comic-Con 2018. There are two figures featured with photos, one is a 6″ scale Black Series Padme Amidala from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and the other is a 3.75″ scale Chewbacca for the Vintage Collection. Both figures are scheduled for a Spring 2019 release.

Funko Announces Holiday Star Wars Pops!

Coming this fall to a store near year just in time for Christmas are the coolest Pop! Holiday Star Wars vinyl figures from Funko!
