Rogue One is one with the Force! The first Star Wars “spinoff” film from Lucasfilm has passed the $500 million mark globally.
The film took in $64 million over the 3-day weekend to put it right at $318 million domestically and $555 million globally. These numbers put it at 52 all time domestically in just its second weekend of release.
The Rogue One Box Office totals also show that it has become the 6th fastest film to $300 million. With overall positive reviews and the amount of money it has made so far, it most likely means that Lucasfilm has the green light for any Star Wars film that they want to make.
Now let’s see what week 3 holds in store for the film.
About Rogue One:
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opened in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
