D23 is now in full swing and that means it is time for some fantastic Star Wars news coming from the event. First up is coverage from the Disney+ streaming service event, in which we get our first look at the trailer for The Mandalorian. You can check out the trailer above!
A new cast member has been added to The Mandalorian. Ming-Na Wen was announced today as another member of the cast.
Wen’s character wasn’t revealed. Her previous Disney history includes voicing the title character in 1998’s Mulan and Agent Melinda May in the long-running Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. With a Star Wars role now under her belt, Wen has basically scored the Disney hat trick.
In other news, for fans hoping that Boba Fett would make an appearance in the series, you will be disappointed. In an interview with Good Morning America show runner Jon Favreau said that the show is clearly inspired by the infamous bounty hunter with too little screen time – Boba Fett. Though he made it clear that he will not appear in his series, which will feature mainly new characters.
The following official poster was released yesterday for the upcoming series as well!
About The Mandalorian:
The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.
The Mandalorian debuts November 12, 2019 on the Disney+ streaming service!
