MTV News caught up with Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, and posed a few questions to him. Some of the answers might be very surprising to fans. One of the items that Johnson discussed was The Last Jedi opening crawl. Seeing that the movie begins at the point where Star Wars: The Force Awakens ended, led many fans to speculate as to whether an opening crawl was needed.

Johnson also talked about about echoing themes between movies. For instance The Phantom Menace echoed A New Hope, and Attack of the Clones echoed Empire Strikes Back, etc… In any case, Johnson’s hope for the film is that it is emotionally satisfying for fans.
