Maul Shadow Lord Season 2 Update: New TV Spot Teases Darker Journey

The premiere of Maul: Shadow Lord is just days away, and Lucasfilm is turning up the heat. A brand-new TV spot has surfaced, offering a chilling look at the titular character’s headspace following the rise of the Empire. The latest promotional material doesn’t just show off the high-octane action fans expect; it delves deep into the psychological state of a fallen Sith who has been discarded by his master and the galaxy at large. Along with the fresh footage, executive producer Athena Yvette Portillo has provided a crucial update regarding the future of the series.

“The Force Serves Me”

“The Force Serves Me”

The new TV spot highlights a Maul who is more dangerous than ever because he has nothing left to lose. Haunted by the lingering voice of Darth Sidious, Maul is seen grappling with his place in a galaxy now ruled by the Empire, an Empire that replaced him first with Count Dooku and then with Darth Vader.

The most striking moment in the teaser is a perversion of the famous Guardian of the Whills mantra. While we are used to hearing “I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me,” Maul offers a much darker alternative: “I master the Force, and the Force serves me.” This small line of dialogue perfectly encapsulates the show’s themes of power, obsession, and the refusal to submit to destiny.

Is Maul: Shadow Lord Season 2 Happening?

While fans are eagerly counting down the hours until the first two episodes drop, many are already looking toward the future. Speaking with Collider, executive producer Athena Yvette Portillo addressed the possibility of a Maul Shadow Lord Season 2.

“We have other things in development and in progress, not necessarily related to the show,” Portillo explained. “So again, it all depends on whether the fans really do want another season, and then we’re all for it.”

This is an encouraging sign for the Star Wars community. While a second season isn’t officially greenlit yet, the door is wide open. Historically, Lucasfilm’s animated ventures, from The Clone Wars to The Bad Batch, have thrived on fan support and viewership numbers. If the audience turns up for the premiere, the story of Maul’s criminal empire could continue well beyond these initial episodes.

A New Era for the Galaxy’s Most Resilient Villain

Maul: Shadow Lord is set roughly one year after the events of Revenge of the Sith. The Jedi are gone, the Empire is tightening its grip, and Maul is attempting to carve out his own kingdom on the planet Janix.

The series promises to bridge the gap between his appearance in The Clone Wars and his eventual role as the head of Crimson Dawn in Solo: A Star Wars Story. With Sam Witwer returning to voice the character, fans can expect the same level of intensity and tragedy that has made Maul one of the most compelling figures in the franchise.

The show also introduces a new cast of characters, including a disillusioned Padawan named Devon Izara and the mysterious detective Brander Lawson. As Maul seeks to build his influence, he will find himself pursued by Jedi-hunting Inquisitors, including the “horrifying” Marrok, who is described as a monster that moves like an apparition.

Premiere Details

Maul: Shadow Lord officially kicks off on April 6, 2026, on Disney+. The series will launch with a two-episode premiere, followed by two new episodes every Wednesday. The season is set to conclude with a massive finale on May 4, Star Wars Day.

With the potential for a Maul Shadow Lord Season 2 hanging in the balance, the stakes for this first season have never been higher. Be sure to tune in and show your support for the Shadow Collective.
