Star Wars Celebration Orlando Sets Attendance Record!

Now that Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 is in the books, it is time to start tallying up the numbers.  By numbers, I mean the amount of people that attended the event.  According to StarWars.com, Celebration Orlando set an attendance record for the show.

Whether that is a good or bad thing is up for serious debate, especially for those of us that went to the convention.  That is for another article (which you can hear all about on this week’s upcoming podcast).

As Star Wars celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, Star Wars Celebration Orlando was especially important for Lucasfilm. We wanted to honor what came before and what comes next, from A New Hope to The Last Jedi, and George Lucas to Rian Johnson. We wanted to create compelling experiences, from The Star Wars Show LIVE! to panels on everything from Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Rebels to theme parks and “Heroines of Star Wars.” And we wanted to remember Carrie Fisher and Kenny Baker, which made this anniversary a bittersweet one.

But none of this would be possible or have real meaning without the fans who came — more than 70,000 of you, making this the biggest and most widely-attended Star Wars Celebration in our history. We are humbled by these numbers and by the outpouring of support we felt over Celebration. We know you take time out of your lives to come from far away and we so appreciate the love and hard work you put into your amazing costumes. Seeing the generations of fans who attended, this year in particular, was a reminder to us of the real power of these films and this event.

We hope we succeeded in hosting a Celebration worthy of Star Wars and worthy of you.

Lucasfilm would like to thank the ReedPOP team for working with us on Celebration and helping make the show a successful and safe experience for the fans.

Gentle Giant Booth at Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 has wrapped up, and we are back to post all the news we missed while at the convention.  So sit back and relax, and read through the “need-to-know” information that is most important to you.

There were a ton of cool new items on display at the Gentle Giant Booth this year.  Two new San Diego Comic-Con busts based on art by Brian Rood were there, which includes Darth Vader and X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker.  We also got a look at the Premiere Guild pieces of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lobot, and Jumbo Emporer.

New and old busts were on display to show the masterwork of the fine folks at Gentle Giant. It also looks like we will be getting statues based on Bossk and IG-88 in the future.  The Rogue One product was also on display in full force.  The best thing might be the photo opportunity with a life-size Jabba the Hutt (not for sale).

Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 has wrapped up, and we are back to post all the news we missed while at the convention.  So sit back and relax, and read through the “need-to-know” information that is most important to you.

The first official Star Wars The Last Jedi trailer was released to fans during the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel at Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017, Friday.  The new trailer gives us our first look at the film including looks at Luke, Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo, Leia, and Captain Phasma.

Star Wars Celebration Exclusive LEGO Detention Block Rescue

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Star Wars saga, Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 attendees will have the chance to enter a raffle to purchase a special-edition LEGO Star Wars set inspired by the Detention Block AA-23 from the original 1977 film! A Star Wars Celebration exclusive, the LEGO Detention Block Rescue set includes Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in Stormtrooper disguises ready to infiltrate the Death Star and rescue Princess Leia.

The opportunity to purchase this exclusive set is being raffled off on the Star Wars Celebration website prior to the event for attendees only, beginning now through 12:01AM EST on Thursday, April 6th. All winners will be randomly selected to purchase the exclusive onsite at the LEGO booth next week, and will be notified by April 7th.

Fans of the Star Wars Celebration pins have just had some of their questions answered.  The Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 exclusive pin locations have been released.  There are seven pins found exclusively at various booths throughout the Celebration show floor.

We previously told you about the Thrawn pin, and it can also be found at the Barnes and Noble booth, which is mentioned below.  However, we didn’t know about the other six.  So take a moment to find commit these to memory as you are making your plans for Celebration.
