Details on L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story

EW seems to be your source for everything Solo: A Star Wars Story. The site has provided official details about Lando’s droid L3-37 in the upcoming film. You will find quotes from Jon Kasdan, Lawrence Kasdan, and Ron Howard about the droid.

We have provided a couple of quotes below, but hit the source link at the bottom of the article to get the full low-down about the character.

“She has a working relationship with Lando, and it’s very sophisticated and informed by years of working together,” says Lawrence Kasdan. “And, Phoebe, herself, is hilarious. The effect that she will appear in is amazing, but she comes through very strongly even with this astounding [CGI], both her humor and her physicality. If you meet Phoebe, she’s one of these people you just fall in love with immediately.”

“Her AI is way up there in terms of IQ,” says director Ron Howard. “She’s capable of some pretty interesting conversations. And Phoebe is hilarious and brilliant and really helped bring that character to life in ways that are funny and surprising.”

Emilia Clarke Talks Solo: A Star Wars Story

Qi-Ra

EW seems to be your source for everything Solo: A Star Wars Story. The site caught up with Emilia Clarke, to talk about her place in the upcoming film. Emilia talks about her relationship with Han, what some of those scenes in the trailer might mean, and more!

We have provided a couple of questions and answers below, but hit the source link at the bottom of the article to get the full low-down from Emilia.

Sounds like a busy time, so thanks for talking to me about Qi’ra. She and Han Solo go back to their childhoods, so can you characterize the setup of their relationship?

Well, they grew up as comrades, essentially. They grew up as pals, as partners in crime. There is obviously the romantic side of things. But they grew up together. So they were kids together. And the beautiful thing about this Han Solo story is it’s highlighting all of the most brilliant aspects of Han Solo the character and characterizing those aspects in characters that he meets on his journey to becoming who he is.

These people all represent different sides of who he becomes?

That’s kind of the story, really. You are seeing all of these different elements that make up who he is through the people and the interactions and the relationships just as we all do as human beings. We are simply the embodiment of our experiences, essentially.

They’re guiding him, inspiring him. Maybe corrupting him?

You see the beginnings of him, this loveable rogue. You get it fine-tuned throughout these relationships, and Qi’ra is one of those relationships that has an impact on him as a character. I mean, hopefully [laughs] — if I have done my job. And within that relationship, the thing that that you see with Qi’ra is that she an enigma.

Alden Ehrenreich Talks Solo: A Star Wars Story

Today, EW is your source for everything Solo: A Star Wars Story. The site caught up with Han Solo himself, Alden Ehrenreich, to talk about the upcoming film. Ehrenreich dishes on everything from the first meeting with Lando, to his relationship with the new character Qi’Ra.

We have provided a couple of questions and answers below, but hit the source link at the bottom of the article to get the full low-down from Alden.

Can you give us a sense of what Han is like when we meet him at the start of the movie. Obviously, we see him evolve. What’s different from the guy we know?

I think the main thing that’s different is that the Han we meet in this film is more of an idealist, he has certain dreams that he follows, and we watch how it affects him as those dreams meet new realities, realities that are harder and more challenging than he’d expected.

Can you say what his dream is? I assume it’s bigger than “smuggler.”

I can’t say exactly, but it definitely involves independence, and calling your own shots. I thought the Kasdans did a wonderful job of kind of retroactively coming up with what kind of background would lead him to becoming the character we all know.

EW Reveals New Stills and Character Information for Solo: A Star Wars Story

Even more Solo: A Star Wars Story news coming from EW today. Now the site has revealed several new images from the film, which you can see them all here, and revealed some character details.

EW had this to say about the title character and a little about the other characters in the film, including the name of Paul Bettany’s character…

“He might be a little more immature, he may be a little less experienced, and he may hone his cynicism over time, but he’s very wary,” she says. “He needs to gain the respect of the people he interacts with, even if they’re the lowest of the low.”

Along the way he will befriend “walking carpet” Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), fall head over heels for shadowy Qui’ra (Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke), and cross paths with Lando Calrissian (Atlanta’s Donald Glover stepping into the cape of Billy Dee Williams) and his droid sidekick L3-37 (played via motion capture by Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.)

The wannabe smuggler will also face career crooks Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), blaster-toting Val (Thandie Newton), and crime boss Dryden Vos (played by Paul Bettany).

If you’re trying to figure out who’s good and who’s bad, you’re not alone. “I think that’s exactly what Han’s trying to do throughout the film,” Ehrenreich says.

Character Names For Thandie Newton & Phoebe Waller-Bridge Revealed

Along with the release of the trailer, Lucasfilm released a few hi-res images from Solo: A Star Wars Story. The credit information that goes along with those photos revealed the official names for characters played by Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

It appears that Thandie Newton’s character is Val, though nothing much is known about her at this point. After first seeing her in the trailer, I was sure she was Sana Starros from Marvel’s Star Wars comic book series, but apparently that isn’t the case. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be playing the droid L3-37. The character appears to be part of Han and Lando’s inner group, as the character is seen aboard the Millennium Falcon.

Check out the hi-res images below!

Thandie Newton is Val in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is L3-37 in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.
