Details on L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story

EW seems to be your source for everything Solo: A Star Wars Story. The site has provided official details about Lando’s droid L3-37 in the upcoming film. You will find quotes from Jon Kasdan, Lawrence Kasdan, and Ron Howard about the droid.

“She has a working relationship with Lando, and it’s very sophisticated and informed by years of working together,” says Lawrence Kasdan. “And, Phoebe, herself, is hilarious. The effect that she will appear in is amazing, but she comes through very strongly even with this astounding [CGI], both her humor and her physicality. If you meet Phoebe, she’s one of these people you just fall in love with immediately.”

“Her AI is way up there in terms of IQ,” says director Ron Howard. “She’s capable of some pretty interesting conversations. And Phoebe is hilarious and brilliant and really helped bring that character to life in ways that are funny and surprising.”

Character Names For Thandie Newton & Phoebe Waller-Bridge Revealed

Along with the release of the trailer, Lucasfilm released a few hi-res images from Solo: A Star Wars Story. The credit information that goes along with those photos revealed the official names for characters played by Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

It appears that Thandie Newton’s character is Val, though nothing much is known about her at this point. After first seeing her in the trailer, I was sure she was Sana Starros from Marvel’s Star Wars comic book series, but apparently that isn’t the case. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be playing the droid L3-37. The character appears to be part of Han and Lando’s inner group, as the character is seen aboard the Millennium Falcon.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Comments on Transition of Solo Directors

Solo: A Star Wars Story has been anything, but a normal film production. After almost finishing principal photography directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired. Then came rumors of Alden Ehrenreich needing acting coaching, which led to fans speculating that the movie would be dead in the water.

Enter Ron Howard.

In a recent interview with IGN, Phoebe Waller-Bridge commented on the subject of Ron Howard taking over as director of her upcoming film Solo: A Star Wars Story, and how the change in directors affected the filming of her scenes.

“The handover there was done with such warmth and generosity from everybody, and Ron’s just a master at his craft; he’s going to make a beautiful film out of it,” she said of the transition between directors. “You just really trust him and it was just really exciting to work with him. I mean, it would’ve been exciting to just pass him in a corridor, let alone for him to be parachuted in to the film you’re working on.”

When asked how much of her role was reshot compared to Lord and Miller’s version of the film, Waller-Bridge said, “We’d done some really, really great stuff with Chris and Phil that everyone was really thrilled with, and I think a lot of that will still be in it.”

Our First Look at the Cast of Han Solo

We have our first cast photo from the upcoming Han Solo film! The gang is all here, and boy does Alden Ehrenreich look more like a young Harrison Ford than ever!

Cameras are rolling on the adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee; principal photography on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story officially began February 20 at Pinewood Studios, London.

The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
