It is unknown how long the Twi’lek known as Bib Fortuna has served as the majordomo to the mighty gangster Jabba the Hutt, but we know that his service dates back at least to the Boonta Eve Classic pod race, won by the young, unknown competitor Anakin Skywalker. The pasty-faced right-hand-man is still in Jabba’s service several decades later when the son of Anakin Skywalker returns to Tattooine as a Jedi and seeks to bargain with Jabba for the life of his friend. It is during that encounter that Jabba learns that Bib Fortuna is susceptible to “Jedi Mind Tricks.” Fortuna followed the rules of protocol in the Hutt’s court (such as they were), and spoke only in Huttese, though he understood other tongues. The darkly robed attendant often hovered near Jabba’s ear, offering advice and feeding information to his master.

The fearsome assassin droid IG-88 was a rival to Boba Fett and was an imposing presence when he arrived on the Executor, answering Darth Vader’s call for ruthless bounty hunters. Far more terrifying than battle droids were the assassin droids, who were independently programmed mechanical killers that roamed the galaxy and had no masters. IG-88’s battered, chrome, war droid exterior suggests a richer, more violent history than we were able to glimpse in The Empire Strikes Back. The artists a Gentle Giant take you on a journey to see IG-88 in his prime and on the hunt with his cold, mechanical stare fixed on his prey. With his guns drawn, IG-88 won’t be stopped until his has his target dead or alive! Leia Hero of Yavin Mini-Bust
In the triumphant scene at the end of Star Wars: A New Hope, we see Princess Leia decorating Luke Skywalker and Han Solo with the Medal of Yavin, for their gallant effort that resulted in the destruction of the Imperial Death Star! Our previous releases include both Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. Now we complete the trilogy with the royal presenter herself, Princess Leia Organa of Alderan. This amazing mini bust illustrates the pride that Leia shows at the end of the film as she knows the Death Star has been destroyed and no other planets will face the same fate as her home world. She stands proudly on the stage with her fellow heroes of the Rebellion. This mini bust was digitally sculpted by our master artisans, using actual archival footage and designs. Each bust is rendered using the highest quality polystone, and is hand painted to exacting detail. All of the pieces in this series are individually numbered and paired with a matching certificate of authenticity.
Sometimes it’s fun to look at the original sculpts of some of your favorite Star Wars collectibles. It gives you an idea of what goes into making these things that we as collectors hold dear. Recently the sculptor of the Gentle Giant Maz Kanata Bust, Keith Kopinski, released his digital sculpt photos for the piece.
As you can see in the gallery below, he also included the Premium Guild version with Maz holding Anakin’s lightsaber. Gentle Giant gave Keith 3 weeks to go from concept to fully detailed original sculpt, and as always Kopinski finished up a few days before the deadline.
