Hasbro has announced a new Star Wars Vintage Collection Episode VI: Return of the Jedi Jabba’s Tatooine Skiff Collectible Vehicle. You can currently pre-order the new vehicle from the Hasbro Pulse site right now!

From the comfort of his barge on Tatooine, Jabba the Hutt orders his men to make Luke Skywalker walk the plank of the Desert Skiff. Waiting below Luke is the mouth of the toothy desert monster, the Sarlacc. On board the skiff with Jabba’s cronies and Skywalker are a few of the Jedi’s trusted allies. Battle commences and Luke, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian attempt to fight off the Hutt Crime Syndicate and make their escape. With this Star Wars The Vintage Collection Tatooine Skiff, the stage is set for fans to recreate this classic Return of the Jedi battle and imagine new adventures.

This ultra-detailed Star Wars The Vintage Collection Jabba’s Tatooine Skiff Vehicle features movie-inspired design, adjustable and removable parts, and sturdy, clear display stand. Hasbro’s Star Wars Brand Gets New Leader

Hasbro has announced that Sarah Carroll will be taking over the role left vacant by Steve Evans, of Senior Brand Marketing Manager of the Star Wars property.

If you recall, last month Steve Evans stepped away from this position to take on other responsibilities at Hasbro.

3 Star Wars Toys Up for ‘Toy of the Year’ Honors!

The Toy Association has revealed their 123 finalists across 17 categories for the 2019 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards. Visit ToyAwards.org between now and January 6, to help Star Wars win all three nominations this year!

There will be one winner from each category, one “Toy of the Year” award winner and the “People’s Choice” winner, which will be announced at the TOTY Awards gala Friday, February 15, 2019, the night before Toy Fair 2019.

There are two figures featured with photos, one is a 6″ scale Black Series Padme Amidala from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and the other is a 3.75″ scale Chewbacca for the Vintage Collection. Both figures are scheduled for a Spring 2019 release.

Hasbro sent over a few official high resolution images and quick details for their Star Wars reveals from MCM London Comic-Con 2018. There are two figures featured with photos, one is a 6″ scale Black Series Battle Droid, and the other is a 3.75″ scale R2-D2 for the Vintage Collection. The Battle Droid is scheduled for a Spring 2019 release, while R2-D2 will be released in Summer of 2019.

Hasbro’s public relations team has sent over official high resolution images of the Anakin Skywalker (Episode III), Yoda (Episode V), and Biker Scout 6″ figures from the new Black Series Archive Collection line.

Launching in the spring of 2019, we have our first look at the second wave in the greatest hits series that celebrates some of the most sought-after figures, including Anakin Skywalker from Revenge of the Sith, the wrinkled and wise Yoda, and an Imperial Scout Trooper.

Hasbro Layoffs Soon, as Earnings Fall

The toy industry knew that the fall of Toys ‘R’ Us was going to be a big blow, but maybe not this big. News started trickling out after a recent earnings call that Hasbro would be going through the process of laying off some of its workforce.

No one expected it to be up to 10 percent of their workforce though. This is just another hit after Toys ‘R’ Us closed its doors earlier this year.

What does this mean for the Star Wars brand? Only time will tell. As for those being let go from their positions, the team at Outer Rim News hopes that you land on your feet quickly.

Hasbro has now confirmed it will lay off a mid single digit percentage of its 5,000 estimated employees amid a recently announced $50-60 million restructuring plan.

The move was confirmed by a Hasbro spokesperson in a conversation with Business Insider.

It arrives in the same week that the global toymaker revealed its Q3 2018 results to be reeling from the aftermath of the demise of Toys R Us. Sales were down seven per cent in the US and Canada.

“As part of Hasbro’s ongoing transformation, we continue to make meaningful organisational changes,” said Julie Duffy, senior vice president for global communications at Hasbro.

“While some of these changes are difficult, we must ensure we have the right teams in place with the right capabilities to lead the company into the future.”

Following the liquidation of Toys R Us earlier this year, the likes of Hasbro and Mattel have had to scramble to find new avenues for selling toys. Walmart and Target usually buy toys later in the year than Toys R Us did, which caused a crunch at the end of the third quarter. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said in a conference call discussing the earnings that the company couldn’t meet all of the demand.
