Emilia Clarke Talks Solo: A Star Wars Story

Qi-Ra

EW seems to be your source for everything Solo: A Star Wars Story. The site caught up with Emilia Clarke, to talk about her place in the upcoming film. Emilia talks about her relationship with Han, what some of those scenes in the trailer might mean, and more!

We have provided a couple of questions and answers below, but hit the source link at the bottom of the article to get the full low-down from Emilia.

Sounds like a busy time, so thanks for talking to me about Qi’ra. She and Han Solo go back to their childhoods, so can you characterize the setup of their relationship?

Well, they grew up as comrades, essentially. They grew up as pals, as partners in crime. There is obviously the romantic side of things. But they grew up together. So they were kids together. And the beautiful thing about this Han Solo story is it’s highlighting all of the most brilliant aspects of Han Solo the character and characterizing those aspects in characters that he meets on his journey to becoming who he is.

These people all represent different sides of who he becomes?

That’s kind of the story, really. You are seeing all of these different elements that make up who he is through the people and the interactions and the relationships just as we all do as human beings. We are simply the embodiment of our experiences, essentially.

They’re guiding him, inspiring him. Maybe corrupting him?

You see the beginnings of him, this loveable rogue. You get it fine-tuned throughout these relationships, and Qi’ra is one of those relationships that has an impact on him as a character. I mean, hopefully [laughs] — if I have done my job. And within that relationship, the thing that that you see with Qi’ra is that she an enigma.

UPDATED – FIRST LOOK: The Cast of Solo: A Star Wars Story

UPDATE – The website ScreenRant.com is reporting that Disney has told them that the image below isn’t official. Is this Disney trying to keep this under wraps for now, or is it legitimately a fan made piece of art? I guess we will find out when the promotional stuff actually starts appearing. So take the article and image below with a grain of salt for now…

We now have our first official look at Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, and Emilia Clarke from Solo: A Star Wars Story thanks to a Russian Licensing site. Thanks to Orions Belt Creations for the heads up!

As you can see from the photo below, there is a lot of neat stuff going on. Lando appears to have a nice hairdo going on, and Han looks about like expected. The biggest reveal is that of the Millennium Falcon. If that is the Falcon in the picture then it looked a tad different in the beginning compared to where it ends up by Star Wars: A New Hope.

Enjoy!

There is also a description of the film as well. The PDF is in Russian, but a quick google translate reveals:

Solo is an exciting story about intergalactic adventures, telling the adventures of young Han Solo, about how he got into difficult situations and found an outlet from them, as he became a smuggler, a rebel, a bully, a hero, whom we all love.”

As always, leave your comments in the appropriate places!

Emilia Clarke’s Character’s Name Revealed for Han Solo Film

Emilia Clarke

In a recent Vanity Fair interview with actor Michael K. Williams, Emilia Clarke’s character’s name for the Han Solo filmed was revealed.  Earlier this week, we learned that Michael K. Williams’ character from the Han Solo film had been cut from Ron Howard’s version of it.  In a recent interview with the actor, he revealed (accidentally or not), the name of Emilia Clarke’s character, which is “Kira”.

Williams had already filmed all of his scenes as a new character to the universe—“a link between Han Solo and Emilia’s character, Kira”—when Lucasfilm suddenly announced in June that it was replacing directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller with Ron Howard. The shake-up meant that Williams would need to re-shoot his scenes so that the anticipated spin-off could still meet its 2018 release date.

If you recall, Kira was the initial name for Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, via various leaks on the set.  This is most likely another case of Lucasfilm, recycling ideas from film to film.

While this isn’t much, it is nice to know that as we get closer to the May 25, release date, we are going to know more and more about this film, that is covered in a thick veil of secrecy.

Han Solo Cast

We have our first cast photo from the upcoming Han Solo film!  The gang is all here, and boy does Alden Ehrenreich look more like a young Harrison Ford than ever!

Cameras are rolling on the adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee; principal photography on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story officially began February 20 at Pinewood Studios, London.

The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.
