Donald talks about being bald and what his kids think of it, seeing the Will Smith & Chris Rock moment at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, performing at a pre-Oscar party with Tiffany Haddish, people trying to get him to perform at parties, debating with Quinta Brunson about the Beatles vs Notorious B.I.G., shooting the new season of “Atlanta” in Europe during lockdown, and the possibility of a new Childish Gambino album.
At the 11:08 mark of the video (which you can watch above), Jimmy Kimmel states that Glover is working on a Lando series for Disney Plus, at which Glover reacted sort of surprised, but then changed his tone and did not deny it.
If I were a betting man, I would say that more about this project will be announced in May at Star Wars Celebration. We first heard news of a Star Wars: Lando series back in December of 2020, during a slew of Disney Plus announcements from Lucasfilm. Since then, there has been no word about the series, but it seems like things might be ramping up for this one.
UPDATE – io9 contacted Lucasfilm to confirm the information below, and was told that the quote was a tad bit mistranslated. It seems that Kennedy said the moving is something she would like to see at some point in the future.
Solo: A Star Wars Story doesn’t premiere for another week in the US, but it seems plans are already in the works for the next spin-off film in the Star Wars franchise. While talking with Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the studio’s plans for a Lando Calrissian movie.
“We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca but Lando will be next.”
With the reviews coming in and the acclaim being given to Donald Glover for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian, this seems like a no-brainer for Lucasfilm. As always leave your thoughts in the appropriate places!

Solo: A Star Wars Story releases in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018.
UPDATE – The website ScreenRant.com is reporting that Disney has told them that the image below isn’t official. Is this Disney trying to keep this under wraps for now, or is it legitimately a fan made piece of art? I guess we will find out when the promotional stuff actually starts appearing. So take the article and image below with a grain of salt for now…
We now have our first official look at Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, and Emilia Clarke from Solo: A Star Wars Story thanks to a Russian Licensing site. Thanks to Orions Belt Creations for the heads up!
As you can see from the photo below, there is a lot of neat stuff going on. Lando appears to have a nice hairdo going on, and Han looks about like expected. The biggest reveal is that of the Millennium Falcon. If that is the Falcon in the picture then it looked a tad different in the beginning compared to where it ends up by Star Wars: A New Hope.
Enjoy!
Solo: A Star Wars Story
There is also a description of the film as well. The PDF is in Russian, but a quick google translate reveals:
“Solo is an exciting story about intergalactic adventures, telling the adventures of young Han Solo, about how he got into difficult situations and found an outlet from them, as he became a smuggler, a rebel, a bully, a hero, whom we all love.”
As always, leave your comments in the appropriate places!

We have our first cast photo from the upcoming Han Solo film! The gang is all here, and boy does Alden Ehrenreich look more like a young Harrison Ford than ever!
Cameras are rolling on the adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee; principal photography on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story officially began February 20 at Pinewood Studios, London.
The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”

The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Woody Harrelson as Garris Shrike (unconfirmed). The movie hits theaters May 25, 2018.
With the massive success of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm has been given carte blanche to do whatever they want with the Star Wars franchise. The film has now passed the one billion dollar mark globally and has officially cemented the Star Wars franchise as the must see movies of the year.
Lucasfilm already had other Star Wars spinoffs in some state of development, like Han Solo, and the much rumored Boba Fett film. With the success of Rogue One, it is now full steam ahead for those spinoffs.
The next film on the docket is the untitled “Young Han Solo” film. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller recently cast Woody Harrelson in the film to play Han’s mentor. While talking with Yahoo!, Woody Harrelson let slip that Han Solo starts filming in March, and that his character is Garris Shrike. Now should he have leaked that information? Probably not, but fans around the world are sure glad he did.
The next question is the release date. The film originally slated for May of 2018, now has unconfirmed date in 2018. The logical guess is that Disney has decided to make December their month for Star Wars, and the March start date makes sense, especially with the fact that they HAVE to get this film right. Especially when you are replacing a Harrison Ford character.

After Lucasfilm’s official announcement last week that revealed Donald Glover had been cast as young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming young Han Solo standalone film, the actor made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to chat about his upcoming role.
The role of Lando Calrissian was originally made famous by Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Rebels, and the occasional Vegas slot machine… Glover has a lot to live up to, but if anyone can do it, I think he can.
Check out the short clip from the Ellen DeGeneres Show below.
