EWAN MCGREGOR TAKES THE D23 STAGE TO TALK OBI-WAN KENOBI SHOW

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

This latest bit of information confirms our previous report concerning Ewan McGregor donning the Jedi robes again. To announce the upcoming series, Ewan McGregor took to the Disney+ panel stage to proclaim his return as the Jedi Master.

Obi-Wan Ewan McGregor Star Wars Disney+ Series Announced D23 Expo 2019

The Disney+ panel was the first to announce an all-new Star Wars series in development, one that many fans have been asking to see since the closing scenes of 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, electrified the audience when he emerged following the announcement of his involvement in a new series taking place eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, where we last saw Obi-Wan delivering the infant Luke Skywalker to his Tatooine homestead.

Not only did they confirm his return, but Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the scripts for the show have already been written, and the show will start filming next year.

Currently there is no other information about the show, other than vague rumors of the show being four episodes in length, with McGregor serving as director as well. Stay tuned for more information concerning this series soon.

NEW TRAILER AND MORE FROM THE MANDALORIAN AT D23

D23 is now in full swing and that means it is time for some fantastic Star Wars news coming from the event. First up is coverage from the Disney+ streaming service event, in which we get our first look at the trailer for The Mandalorian. You can check out the trailer above!

A new cast member has been added to The Mandalorian. Ming-Na Wen was announced today as another member of the cast.

Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Wen’s character wasn’t revealed. Her previous Disney history includes voicing the title character in 1998’s Mulan and Agent Melinda May in the long-running Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. With a Star Wars role now under her belt, Wen has basically scored the Disney hat trick.

In other news, for fans hoping that Boba Fett would make an appearance in the series, you will be disappointed. In an interview with Good Morning America show runner Jon Favreau said that the show is clearly inspired by the infamous bounty hunter with too little screen time – Boba Fett. Though he made it clear that he will not appear in his series, which will feature mainly new characters.

The following official poster was released yesterday for the upcoming series as well!

About The Mandalorian:

The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone WarsStar Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.

About Dorbz:

Maybe Funko’s POP! line of figures doesn’t do it for you. Not the right aesthetic or whatnot. Now you have an alternative in Dorbz. Made by Vinyl Sugar, which is a part of Funko, the form factor on these figures comes in at right around 3″ tall, slightly smaller than their POP! counterparts. Which means, of course, you can get more of them.
