One of the greatest commanders in the history of the Rebel Alliance, as well as the Resistance, Admiral Ackbar was first introduced to fans in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Admiral Ackbar became well known for his role in the defeat of the Empire, and the destruction of the second Death Star, as well as his historical declaration “IT’S A TRAP!”

Star Wars: The Black Series Wave 5 Revealed?

Black Series Wave 5

It seems like a new wave of Star Wars Black Series figures (wave 5) has been spotted online.  Thanks to the fine folks at Robotkingdom, we have our first look the Star Wars: The Black Series Wave 5 figures (though we are still in agreement that this line is dangerously close to being eliminated).

This wave consists of re-releases of Admiral Ackbar, Emperor’s Royal Guard, Lando Calrissian, and Ahsoka Tano.  Not much is known about this upcoming wave though.  Will it be exclusive to Wal-Mart?  If so why does Robotkingdom have images?  Will this get a mass release, or a much smaller one via online retailers?

Stay tuned, and we will let you know what we find out.

UPDATE – Thanks to the fine folks at Yakface.com, they say that these have been released in Hong Kong (via RobotKingdom), but not the US yet.

Tim Rose Back for The Force Awakens as Admiral Ackbar

Admiral Ackbar

A couple of months ago, a few various websites got their hands on some images that were not supposed to be released, of a familiar Mon Calamari character on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Of course the last time we saw Admiral Ackbar, he was celebrating the Rebels win at the Battle of Endor in Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.  Fans did not expect to see this character in The Force Awakens, but the images confirmed his inclusion.

Now a little more information has started to drop about the character as well, including the news that original actor Tim Rose is reprising the role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Apparently Rose is a tad frustrated by all the secrecy surrounding the film though.  The actor had this to say in a recent interview with The Australian,

Star Wars actor Tim Rose is frustrated at the amount of secrecy surrounding the latest addition to the famous franchise, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

ROSE, who played Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983), reprises his role for the highly anticipated seventh movie but can reveal very little about his character or the film.

“I’m very frustrated by that,” Rose told AAP in Sydney. “Out of the need to be secret, we’re not actually able to get everything we need to do our jobs as well as we could, and as someone who has been doing it for 35 years, I find it very frustrating.”

Rose also expressed the trouble he had getting inside and operating the costume, although he found the actual experience of playing the character fun as a puppeteer. He noted that Original Trilogy fans will love the film and hinted that there are a few familiar faces returning that we have yet to hear about.

About Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars Episode VII is set to be released on December 18th, 2015.
