Solo: A Star Wars Story

Newest Issue of Entertainment Weekly to Feature Han and Chewie

Published

on

The upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly, will give us our first up-close look at Han Solo and Chewbacca on the cover. The issue doesn’t spill all of the beans about the upcoming film, but does give a little more insight into Han’s character in this earlier version of the soon to be Rebellion hero.

“He might be a little more immature, he may be a little less experienced, and he may hone his cynicism over time, but he’s very wary,” says Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy. “He needs to gain the respect of the people he interacts with, even if they’re the lowest of the low.”

You can expect EW.com to break even more news and information about Solo: A Star Wars Story, later this week. Until then, enjoy the cover photo below…

Ron Howard

WARNING! SPOILERS below! If you have not seen the movie yet, DO NOT continue on! Now that the Solo: A Star Wars Story has been in release a few weeks, Ron Howard has started talking about the future of the franchise. He recently sat down with the people at Empire Magazine to discuss some of the reveals from the film, and the future of these characters in more films.

Not only does he discuss the potential of more films and even spin-offs from this one, but he talks about the references to Crimson Dawn and the other crime syndicates that are operating in this section of the official Star Wars timeline. He also talks about how the Kessel Run and the Millennium Falcon‘s escape pod were originally intended. He also talks about the appearance of a certain Sith Lord (well technically he isn’t one in this film), and more!

What Did Rian Johnson Think of Solo: A Star Wars Story?

Rian Johnson

With the red carpet premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story behind us, first thoughts about the film are starting to hit the Internet. One of the bigger names revealing their thoughts on the film is Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. Some fans will read his comments as nothing more than a Disney shill, while others might actually respect them (depends on which side of the fence you are on regarding The Last Jedi), and you have your right to those opinions.

Either way, you can check out his thoughts that he left on Imgur below!

Rian Johnson’s thoughts

You can read his comments below…

Donald Glover is great in it, but duh. Alden is terrific, he’s not doing a Harrison Ford impersonation but he brings his own charm and swagger to the character. The big surprise for me was Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Bridge-Waller?) who has a few of the funniest moments I’ve ever seen in a Star Wars movie. I had never watched Fleabag (I know, I know, I need to watch it — I’m loving Killing Eve but she’s not in that, she only wrote it) so it was a pleasant surprise. The action scenes are true great. But who’s going to read this and take me seriously? I’d like to think I’d still be honest but it’s not like you’re going to come to my Instagram story for hard-edged film criticism on a Star Wars movie. See it though, it’s super fun. I should get back to writing. Jesus, what have I typed.
