There has been a great disturbance in the force. Probably coming as no surprise to fans now, another Star Wars film has lost its director. The latest casualty?  Colin Trevorrow.

Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

Why did this happen yet again?  The Hollywood Reporter’s sources says the relationship between Colin and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had become unmanageable. Kennedy was not eager to see another director leave the project after she fired Christopher Miller and Phil Lord off the Han Solo spinoff but Trevrorrow’s exit ultimately proved to be unavoidable.
