Rogue One Nominated for 2 Academy Awards

It is that time of year again! It’s a time when all the best movies get ignored for artsy-fartsy films.  This year Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been nominated for 2 awards in the Best Visual Effects category, and the Best Sound Mixing category.  The movie has some pretty tough competition with the likes of Doctor Strange, Hacksaw Ridge, and La La Land.  Hopefully the film can earn at least one of these win.

Best Visual Effects

  • Deepwater Horizon
  • Doctor Strange
  • The Jungle Book
  • Kubo and the Two Strings
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Best Sound Mixing

  • Arrival
  • Hacksaw Ridge
  • La La Land
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  • 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opened in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
