A few months ago we shared news that Bandai would soon be in the business of making 1/12, 1/6, and 1/2 scale figures based on characters in the Star Wars Universe. Now the latest of those figures, Darth Vader, is starting to get a little Internet love, with the release of several new photos.

As you can see from the photos below, we get a look at the new “Triaxial Jet Finish” job on Anakin’s face. What is “Triaxial Jet Finish” you might ask? It is plastic printing in three directions by a jig control. It’s a revolutionary new technology to reproduce the hard to create “shadow feeling”, surface texture of the skin, that could not be obtained with molded products alone. This is done a tad different from the conventional inkjet printing process, which gives the piece a more “life-like” appearance.
